7-day Yoga Retreat

12th November 2026 - 19th November 2026
Cape Town, South Africa

Get ready for a restful, re-energising retreat at WildeKrans Wine Estate

Just a 90-minute drive from Table Mountain (close enough for convenience, but far enough to forget about city life), join me for a rejuvenating week at Wildekrans Wine Estate, where nature, relaxation, and adventure await! Twice-daily yoga sessions will leave you feeling refreshed, just in time to enjoy a wine tasting, an afternoon by the pool, or walking/biking on the miles of farm trails, right outside your door. Your rustic cottage is nestled amongst the estate’s riverbed, orchards and vineyards, so you can wake up right in the middle of nature. If the farm isn’t enough, the Overberg region is bursting with flora, fauna, and so many outdoor activities to keep even the most restless souls entertained.

Whether you're coming to relax, sip and savour, or simply escape your inbox, this retreat promises the perfect balance of tranquility, movement, and adventure.

Start and end your day with yoga

Every morning, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a 75-minute session of breath work and movement. The style of yoga will vary and be dependent on the group’s needs. We'll round off each day with a 60-minute evening class. Depending on the afternoon’s activities, we can kick it up into high gear or slow down with a restorative flow. None of the classes are compulsory, and the schedule is open to change.

Get to know the estate

Wildekrans is a sustainable, 1,000-hectare farm that is known for its community-driven initiatives and internationally award-winning wines. The farm also prides itself on protecting its natural and indigenous surroundings with animals like porcupines, jackals, and (very rarely) the elusive leopard being spotted in the uncultivated parts of the farm.

Activities

During the day, there are so many things to do on the estate. If that’s not enough, I’ve listed just some of the amazing things you can do around the immediate area. Please note, it would be more suitable to organise the activities 24-48 hours in advance. To ensure there is availability for all the activities of your choice to be arranged, please state your interest on the booking form.

No car? No problem! All the activities can be accessed via shuttle organised through the accommodation. Please make sure to use the shuttle services recommended by the venue's reception desk. For safety reasons, it is not recommended to use other taxi services. As we are in farm country, it is very unlikely that Uber/Bolt will be conveniently available.

A 2-hour workshop will take place on one of the afternoons. The theme and schedule of the workshop will be determined at the start of the retreat.  If you have something in mind that you’d like to do or are currently working on, don’t hesitate to add that info to the booking form, and I’ll do my best to accommodate your needs; not just in the workshop but throughout our time together.

I’m so excited for us to have classes in the Estate's beautiful glasshouse with a view of the vineyards, as seen in the picture. If we prefer a cosier space, there's also the Estate's original Cape Dutch-style house. Another place I’m looking forward to practising is on the lawns that look out onto the farm and surrounding mountains (think about the fresh country air and morning summer sun).

Accommodation

Wildekrans is a sustainable, 1,000-hectare farm that is known for its community-driven initiatives and internationally award-winning wines. The farm also prides itself on protecting its natural and indigenous surroundings with animals like porcupines, jackals, and (very rarely) the elusive leopard being spotted in the uncultivated parts of the farm. As the retreat will be held in the dry season, you can expect a congregation of animals and birds along the river, which runs through the property. The original wine cellar dates back to the 1860s. Situated a stone's throw away from the restaurant and glasshouse, wine tours can easily be arranged. The farm has some of the oldest producing Chenin vines in the Cape, and can be enjoyed amidst the exquisite scenery and tranquillity of the Overberg region, which has hardly changed in over a century.

There is a well-balanced blend of modern and traditional structures on the estate. Both the glasshouse, where we'll practise, and the restaurant are contemporary and oh-so spacious, letting natural light fill in from early morning. Both buildings look out onto apart of the Bot River and are surrounded by beautiful lawns that give these buildings a sophisticated finish.

Contrasted against this stylish feel, the eight traditional Dutch cottages bring a homey, cosy warmth to every guest's stay. I like to think of the interior and furnishings as homesteadcore decor. The accommodation looks out onto the swimming pool and river, which is surrounded by the vineyards and a beautiful thicket of trees lined on the riverbed. Each chalet is equipped with two bedrooms, a small kitchenette, a living room, and a newly refurbished bathroom.

Depending on your needs, each cottage can fit up to four people. If you are travelling alone and would like to share with another person/ group please let me know when signing up and I will do my best to partner you up with someone who has the same sleep schedule (there's no sense in putting an early bird with a night owl).

If two people are planning to stay in one cottage, there will be a king-sized bed placed in each room, allowing one guest per room. If your party is three to four people, we can place 2 x single beds in each room at your convenience. Please note, whether there are three or four people staying in one cottage, the price per person is charged at quadruple occupancy. We also have highly discounted rates for children under the ages of 17, if you are thinking about bringing the entire family. In this case, please email me for more info.

The cottages are fully equipped from bed linen to towels and kitchen equipment. Housekeeping is available and, on request, your included breakfasts can be delivered to your room every morning. You are also more than welcome to bring food, drinks and alcohol from outside the estate to consume on the farm.

As for the accommodation's interior, these authentic dutch-style cottages are designed in a similar way to early settlers as to keep the rooms cool in summer and warm during the winter. Each has a rustic-chic design, highlighted by antique furniture and homestead finishings; with interiors focused on warmth and comfort to match the surroundings of the vineyards and orchard.

Each cottage has a patio and barbecue (braai) area to keep you outside and in nature, for longer. When I am in (South) Africa, one of my favourite things to do is to look up into the night sky and stargaze as they just seem to shine so much brighter there. The Milky Way is clearly visible and the sky just feels bigger and richer. You're more than welcome to use the communal fire pits, right in front of your cottage, late into the night.

Activities

During the day, there are so many things to do, not only on the farm, but throughout the area. The package includes a wine tasting where you can taste up to four of the estate’s wine. The Overberg, including WildeKrans and Beaumont Wines (the neighbouring farm) are best known for their Chenin Blanc. There is a beautiful restaurant with outside seating for a long lunch, the infinity pool is situated amongst the vineyards where you can lounge for the day, or you can enjoy a long walk/ bike ride around the farm. If that’s not enough I’ve listed just some of the amazing things you can do around the immediate area.

If you are looking to bike around the farm, we will need a day's notice to supply you with the bikes, which you can then use for your entire stay. There are also tour operators in the area for us to do a multitude of day trips. For those of you looking for adrenalin SA Forrest Adventures, is right around the corner from the farm. If you'd prefer a little more pamper and luxury, Houw Hoek Hotel & Spa, a 10-minute drive from WildeKrans, offers the best massage I've ever had.

Seriously, there is something for everyone on this retreat: shopping in Hermanus, hiking all around, wine estate after wine estate, horse riding, and even an award winning golf course a stone's throw away.

Zip Lining

If you’re looking for adventure and adrenaline, I highly recommend taking a day to go zip lining with Cape Canopy Tours. I’ve done the tour a couple of times and every time the scenery, landscape and the thrill literally takes my breath away. Situated in the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, the fully guided tour takes you into a previously inaccessible and pristine part of the protected nature reserve - a renowned World Heritage Site. You can think of the day as a high-flying, eco-adventure that turns the Hottentots-Holland fynbos and indigenous forest into your personal playground

Described by Lonely Planet as “vertigo-tinged fun” and “an exciting aerial perspective” you’ll fly with eagles from platform to platform, taking you past waterfalls and through valleys, enjoying all that mother nature has to offer. Your guides will not only ensure your safety but also provide an enlightening and educational experience about the nature and geology of this interesting area.

Insider tip
Book ahead and go on a clear day for maximum views — bring a camera (secure strap!) and courage!

If this kind of adventure appeals to you, you might want to spend other days of the retreat with SA Forrest Adventures. The tour operators are a 30-minute drive away and offer all sorts of activities like sand-boarding one of Africas Highest Dunes (at Betty's Bay), guided ATV (quad bike) tours, and white river rafting.

The Coast

The Overberg has an incredible coastline that stretches from Gordon’s Bay to Klienmond and beyond. Many people, and not just tourists, come through the region for the sole reason to experience Clarence Drive - a famous road that wigs-and-weaves along the coast while hugging the Hottentots Holland Mountain range. Points of interest are Stony Point penguin colony, Harold Porter Botanical Gardens and Kogel Bay. If you have a car, I cannot recommend this afternoon drive enough. Grab your friends, blast your favourite songs and then take your time to stop and admire the views, to go and sit on the the small, nearly private beaches where you can appreciate the ocean and maybe even see dolphins, a whale and, almost definitely, the baboons. You don’t need to be a surfer to enjoy the water, BUT I would recommend only swimming where you see life guard flags, or where there the water is calm, like Rooi Els for example. If you are in need of a surf instructor, we will be more than happy to arrange an experienced local in Hermanus to take you to safe surf spots. If you prefer to swim in a more controlled environment, Hermanus has a fantastic tidal pool that is easily accessible from the town centre’s car park.

As mentioned, on the drive or just 20 minutes from the farm, a small town called Betty’s Bay is home to a colony of African Jackass Penguins (the third-largest breeding colony in the world). While their more famous cousins live closer to Cape Town on Simon’s Town Beach, this colony enjoys more privacy and wider spaces for visitors and penguins alike. There is a boardwalk from the parking lot for tourists and residents to enjoy watching either the teenagers getting up to no good, newly coupled penguins finding new homes (often right in front of people’s gardens) or parents coming back from a feed in the bay. You can also see seabird colonies on this walk, as well as dolphins and seals right off the shores. Depending on the season, whales with their new babies can also be spotted playing in the open waters, right off the beach. If the short walk isn’t enough, an additional 10-minute drive into the neighbouring town of Klienmond has a herd of roaming wild horses. Although you can't get up close and personal with the horses (for your safety and theirs), it is very easy for you to have a close encounter as the herd passes through to graze closer to the mountain. If you are planning to take a walk around the wild horse reserve, be sure to wear closed, preferably hiking shoes as the sand does tend to get quite deep and difficult to walk in.

If you’re keen on a mild and quick hike to an incredible waterfall, Harold Porter Botanical Gardens is also in Betty’s Bay. If you’d like to take a closer look at the hike, keep scrolling to the hiking section. Even if you’re not interested in hiking the gorge, the gardens are a great stop for a coffee, and to enjoy the birdlife and biodiversity. This lovely, 200-hectare garden is situated in the centre of the coastal fynbos where the flora is at its richest. It encompasses mountain slopes with wind-clipped heathlands, deep gorges with relict forests, as well as dunes adjacent to the beach with specialised salt-adapted plants. The Garden is also renowned for its amber pools, so if you're looking for a refreshing swim after a hike, I recommend coming here.

Kogel Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever sat on. The views of the ocean are one thing but there is also a 180 degree view of the Kogelberg Mountain range. These rugged, largely undeveloped mountains feature exceptional fynbos diversity, and a rich, ancient history of human habitation. If that’s not enough, as the sun rises over the Kogelberg mountains, it illuminates the peaks and casts a soft light over the beach and water. If you arrive before dawn, you might witness bioluminescence in the water foam; a rare phenomenon where the waves glow neon blue.

Around Hermanus, renowned for its coastal, water-based activities, there is so much that can be explored on land and by boat. While it'll be the tail-end of whale-watching season, there are still boat operators who will take you on the off-chance to see a few whales that love to linger in the area. On the way, you'll definitely spot dolphins who frequent the rich waters and you'll probably see Port and Starboard, the resident Orca (killer whale) couple. A few towns over there are shark-cage diving operators who can take you into the bay for a close encounter with Great White Sharks. There’s also guided sea and lagoon kayaking and, again, the opportunity to learn how to surf or bodyboard in one-on-one or partner lessons with a skilled, local instructor. Then again, if you’d prefer to stay closer to the shore, there are the tidal pools that offer a relaxing dip. For more land-based activities in Hermanus, keep reading below.

Hermanus

The charming coastal town of Hermanus is just a 20-minute drive from the farm. Once a sleepy village, Hermanus is now considered to be the world's premier site for whale watching from June to November. While September and October are considered the highest chances of spotting Southern Right whales, they can still be seen (and from the car parks, no less!) migrating along the South African coast when we arrive. Hermanus is the kind of place that naturally pulls you into nature. I highly recommend the Cliff Path walk, a gentle stroll along the coastal town that winds above the ocean, which is always in view. You can make the walk as long as you'd like, stopping at the numerous restaurants, right on the rocks, to take in the beautiful scenery and marine life. There are also beaches (Grotto Beach being my favourite) along the walk that make the perfect spots for picnics, and tidal pools for gentle dips in the water. The nearby Fernkloof Nature Reserve offers similar strolls, or more rigorous day trips if you're looking for more intensive hiking trails. Even shopping can be done outside, with the Hermanus markets located right next to the Old Harbour. Other ways to spend the day is visiting the art galleries and whale museums, browsing the boutique shops and watching the sunset at the waterfront.

The Wine Route

Your cottage overlooks the Hemel-en-Aarde Vallei, translated in English to Heaven and Earth Valley. Quickly accessible by dirt road from the farm, or a 30-minute drive through Hermanus, Hemel-en-Aarde is just that - a place where early settlers decided heaven met earth. According to local lore, a Moravian missionary in 1899 noted that the hillsides were so high that they seemed to touch the sky, leaving only the sky and the valley floor in sight. Once you step foot into the basin, you may mistake it for Italy or the South of France. The region has 25 boutique wine estates, most renowned for producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Noteworthy wine tastings are on Creation Wines, Hamilton Russell Vineyards and Ataraxia; to name only a few.

If the valley isn’t enough of a wine experience for you, I can recommend the following wine farms in and around the Hermanus Wine Route.

Of course, the Cape is known for its wine and so the Overberg is not the only region where you can experience wine country. Before or after the retreat other areas I can definitely recommend (and in this order) are:

  • Stellenbosch and Franschoek

  • Constantia

  • Paarl and Wellington

Spa Days

The height of luxury in the Overberg region and only 10 minutes up the road (by car) from the accommodation is the oldest Hotel in South Africa. A charming and historic venue nestled in the heart of a nature reserve with a backdrop of majestic mountains, and surrounded by sprawling lawns and duck-filled ponds. This iconic hotel blends old-world charm (by preserving some parts of the hotel to act as a museum, and operating it's farm stall dating back to 1779) with contemporary comfort through its amenities, specifically, the Ginko Spa. Some say the farm stall has the best pies in the Western Cape, but I say the spa has the best sports massage - honestly, I can't stop talking about how good it was. The spa facilities are brand new and all Touch and Spa body treatments include a complimentary 20-minute sauna. There is also a private pool and steam room to relax the tiredest of muscles. The hotel also offers Padel to outside guests, if you are looking to play a few sets in-between all the yoga, hiking, biking, surfing, and golf.

You might want to keep driving past the hotel and into the Elgin valley, a beautifully lush region of apple and pear orchards - you'll smell the blossoms in the air! I recommend taking a stop at the Elgin market, which takes place over each weekend. At the market you can enjoy fresh local produce, artisan foods, crafts and live music under the hundreds-of-year-old oak trees. While strolling through stalls piled with crisp apples and seasonal fruit, you can sip locally roasted coffee or a chilled Elgin cider. It's a perfect place for food lovers and gift hunters.

Hiking

Hiking is one of the best things to do in the region. The Overberg is considered to one of the most beautiful of the Cape's protected areas due to it's biodiversity and low human interference. There are 10 nature reserves and too many great, quiet hikes to be able to list them all but I’ve added my favourites categorised by difficulty.

Really important
Always hike in groups of at least three people and stay on the trail. Always follow the signs of the reserve and only hike when the weather permits.

I’ve already mentioned these but I'll list them again since they're such wonderful walks:

  • The trails on WildeKrans wine estate offer scenic walking and hiking trails through its 1,000-hectare property. The trails provide immersive experiences in nature, featuring fynbos, varied terrain, and mountain views. WildeKrans and Beaumont Wine farms have joined their trails so you are more than welcome to walk on the neighbouring farm and visit their beautiful restaurant, farm stall and/or wine cellar on the way home.

  • If you're visiting the penguins, I'd really recommend taking the roughly 1km boardwalk to get your steps in and see more of the penguin colony. The penguins nestle next to one of the highest sand dunes in Africa. If you'd like to not only walk around, but also sand board on these steep, scenic dunes, let me know and we can organise you a guide.

  • Again, Cliff Path in Hermanus is a leisurely walk along the Walker Bay coast and is a great idea if you want to take a swim in the ocean or stop for a light lunch or a picnic on the beach. I cannot recommend doing this walk enough.

Trail Preparation: While all these walks are easy-going, I'll always recommend wearing closed shoes for comfort and safety. You don't need hiking gear for these but a comfortable pair of trainers would be better than Birkenstocks.

I've listed the Palmiet River hike as medium because it's a longer walk but still relatively flat.

Trail distance:  10 km

Estimated time: 3 hours

Trail Preparation: Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and a hat. Make sure to carry sufficient water and take along your swimwear and binoculars. It’s recommended that the route is started no later than 14h00. This section of the nature reserve as no signal so it is highly recommended to study the route and follow the trial signage for a safe hike.

If you’re looking to do something more adventurous but not take up the whole day, I highly recommend the Oudebosch gorge in the Harold-Porter Botanical Garden. While the trail starts off with a moderate incline, at times some sections of this trail are strenuous. You are rewarded at the end of the hike with a beautiful waterfall and cool natural pool to swim in.

Trail distance: 6 km (one way)

Estimated time: 4 hours

Trail Preparation: Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and a hat. A windbreaker will come in handy. Make sure to carry sufficient water and take along your swimsuit and binoculars. This section of the nature reserve as no signal so it is highly recommended to study the route and follow the trial signage for a safe hike.

After reaching the waterfall at the top of Oudebosch gorge, hikers have the option to continue on the trail for another 18kms into the KogelBerg Nature Reserve. It is recommended that the one way route is started no later than 14h00 as the gate at Harold Porter Botanical Garden is locked at 18h00. If you choose to do the full day hike, start the trail, by the latest, at 09h00.

Golf & Horse Riding

For those who are interested in more niche sports there are many opportunities to play golf or go horse riding. While there are four golf courses in the area, the best and closest course to the wine farm is Arabella Golf Course, so why not bring your partner or a friend who loves to play?! Reviewed as one of the best in South Africa, Arabella is surrounded by a beautiful lagoon, farmlands and, as part of the Hermanus wine route, world renowned, Bengula Cove. Maybe you don’t play golf and that’s okay! You still have access to the clubhouse for refined dining, easy hospitality and panoramic views. If you’re prepared to drive the 40 minutes, or are already in Hermanus, the Hermanus Golf Course is perfect for golfers who love fresh sea air, spectacular scenery and a memorable round by the shore. The ocean is the backdrop, a classic seaside links set above Walker Bay, with dramatic coastal views and the chance to spot southern right whales from the fairways. Wind-sculpted greens and strategic bunkering reward shot-making and creativity, while the friendly club atmosphere makes every visit welcoming.

And while golfing might not be for everyone, there’s a chance to see the Hemel-and-Aarda Vallei on horse back, just as it was intended. The mountain views in every direction, and long stretches of farm roads and fynbos makes every trot and canter a memory! As you ride, you’ll pass vineyards, grazing fields for sheep and cows and enter into quiet countryside living. The valley is calm, scenic and unspoilt. Again, we'll need 24-48 hours notice to organise your afternoon, so let us know well in advance if this is something you're interested in doing.

Refund & cancellation policy

A ZAR 7 800,00 non-refundable deposit is required to secure booking.

We ask that you pay 50% of the remaining balance 30 days after the initial deposit has been paid. The full balance is due by October 12th, 2026 (30 days before the start date of the retreat).

We hold the right to cancel the retreat (for any reason), 90 days before the check-in date. You will be fully refunded in this event.

There are multiple flights from Prague to Cape Town through Emirates, KLM, Qatar & Lufthansa; all of which have just one layover. I highly suggest renting a car for the entirety of your stay to get around, conveniently. We can also arrange for an airport shuttle from Cape Town International Airport to WilderKrans Estate. Additionally, we can organise taxi services to take you around the area, including the listed extracurricular activities. For safety reasons, we do not recommend using unlisted transport services or arrange taxis outside of the Uber app.

For entry into South Africa you must hold a passport that has 6 moths validity after intended departure and have at least two completely blank (unused) visa pages for entry/departure endorsements. If you are travelling with minors (children under 18) you may require additional documentation (e.g., birth certificate) to prove parental consent, according to South Africa Department of Home Affairs.

*Most EU passports do not need a visa to enter the country and can stay for up to 3 months at a time. However, it is your responsibility to organise and secure your travel documents to enter and leave South Africa accordingly. With that being said, please still check with the South African Department of Home Affairs whether you’d need a visa to visit the country and arrange for this document well in advance.

*Visa policies can change, with recent additions of Eastern European countries to the exemption list. Always check the official South African Department of Home Affairs website or the nearest embassy before booking.

  • Sunglasses & a hat - we'll have arrived summer time and the sun can be brutal around midday

  • For the same reason, please make sure to bring sunscreen

  • With that being said, Cape Town is also known has the Cape of Storms, meaning there can be four seasons in a day so make sure to bring something warm and always carry a mild jacket/windbreaker with you.

  • Insect repellent - there is no malaria in the area, but the cottages are right on the river meaning mosquitos

  • South Africa has one of the weirdest adaptors and you'll need a Type M plug

Things that might not be an absolute necessity but can increase your comfort:

  • Your own (travel) mat

  • Small (yoga/microfibre) towel

  • Refillable water bottle (the water in Cape Town is safe to drink)
